Lush “Silky Underwear” Dusting Powder – $11.25/ 3.5 oz.

Bump baby powder this is one of my all time favorite powders. Honestly, I didn’t rush to buy Silky Underwear because it was described as being jasmine scented with a hint of cocoa butter. I don’t like jasmine at all. Not jasmine infused tea, rice, or jasmine in any of my products at all. I knew that if I hated the smell of Silky Underwear my close friend Reyna would love it. Surprisingly it smells like cocoa butter with maybe a hint of jasmine. It’s lightly mositurizing too which is something you don’t normally get from powders. I keep a can at home and one in the car because I love it so much. Plus I think the name cute lol. I buy these at the actual Lush store because they’ve been known to settle a bit during shipping when ordered online (more so when being ordered from the UK to the US).

I’ve been so busy packing I didn’t get a chance to upload this post sooner…any how let’s get to the good stuff! I’ve decided to dedicate Sundays solely to skin care. As an esthetician student it’s important that I address skin issues and concerns to help people. It will also give me a chance to become familiar with a array of skin types and issues outside of clients I perform facials on during the week. To kick off “Skin Care Sundays” the topic is simple. “What’s your skin care regimen?” Feel free to go into details in the comments’ section or simply cast your vote (at the top of the page) throughout the entire week. This will help me address next Sunday’s topic.

My skin care regimen:
Morning
First cleanse:
Second cleanse: Equate Oil-Free Acne Wash
Tone: C. Booth Tea Tree Toner
Moisturizer: Dermalogica Solar Defense Booster SPF 30

Night
First cleanse: OCM (Oil Cleansing Method) w/ Olive Oil & Castor Oil blend
Second cleanse: Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash
Tone: Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner
Treament: Juice Beauty Spot Blemish Treatment on cheeks for hyperpigmentation OR Clear Essence Advanced Complex Fade Gel with alpha hydroxy acid
Moisturize: Vitamin E or Dermalogica Active Moist

RE: http://oreonshadow.blogspot.com/2009/07/sale-please-help-me-out-moving-sale-let.html

I've been packing ALL day to move and let me just say…the easiest part was clothes and shoes. The hardest part was packing all my makeup, skin care products, hair care products, and items needed for facials and waxing. On top of that I still have homework to finish up that's due tomorrow. I think it's right to spread the word about this sale to my readers because I understand where she's coming from…and I think it's great that she's selling some stuff to prepare for her big move. I've checked out the items for sale and all I can say is "WOW"! Dooney & Bourke Handbags, Pink Clarisonic Brush System, Ben Nye Aqua Paint Palette, and much more.

It’s nothing I hate more than seeing dirty, nasty, filthy makeup brushes. I don’t care if you didn’t invest a lot of money in your brush collection just keep them clean! These brushes are used on your face everyday and build up makeup, oil, dirty, dead skin cells, and bacteria. If you don’t keep your brushes clean it’s a good chance all your makeup will start to look like one color, you’ll experience break outs, and oily skin.

When purchasing brush cleaner keep the following in mind:

  • Price (why buy it if you can make it at home)
  • Convince (is the bottle to large to travel with)
  • Does it disinfect/ is it an antibacterial
  • Does it condition the brush fibers

SIDE NOTE: Daily brush cleaner can be used by spraying it on a towel or makeup brushes (but not saturated) and simply swipe the brush until it’s clean. Brush shampoo is used for deep cleaning and the brush must be saturated, rinsed thoroughly (I rinse twice), and be placed bristle-side down to avoid water damage.

  • You can make my own daily brush cleaner using small spray bottle, 1 ounce distilled water, 1 ounce rubbing alcohol, and 1 tiny drop of hypoallergenic fabric softener.
  • You can make your own brush shampoo by using 1 ounce distilled water, 1 ounce rubbing alcohol, ½ tablespoon of baby shampoo, and 1 tiny drop of hypoallergenic fabric softener.
If you prefer to purchase a daily brush brush cleaner I would recommend MAC’s Brush Cleanser (7.50 oz./ $11.00). You can dilute it with distilled water (I used a half and half ratio) so it’ll save you money in the long run. You can use it dull strength as brush shampoo as well.
For brush shampoo I’ve found that Sephora’s Purifying Brush Shampoo (2 oz./ $6.00) is better at removing product from my brushes. When people ask how’d did I get my makeup brushes so clean when they see pictures…I always tell them it’s because of this brush shampoo. The only bad part is that it can’t be used as a daily cleaner like MAC’s because the consistency is too thick. However, Sephora sells a daily brush cleaner as well. I only buy the small bottle because a little goes a long way.
Brush Cleaning Directions From Sephora:
-Dampen brush bristles with lukewarm water.
-Pump a small amount of shampoo into your hand or onto a clean surface.
-Gently swirl the brush into shampoo to create a light lather, working the lather through bristles.
-Rinse thoroughly.
-This mild formula will remove most traces of makeup—to remove more stubborn waterproof makeup, gently rub the bristles while rinsing.
-Once brush is clean, squeeze out excess water with a lint-free tissue.
-Reshape brush and lay flat or upside-down to dry—do not stand brush upright to dry.

I tried a sample of this whipped body butter in class the other night. OMG!!! I used it on my arms & hands and it absorbed really well but still left me moisturized. Later on that night I had completely forgot I used it and rinsed off my hands. I immediately noticed that I was still very moisturized and couldn’t remember what I used until I realized it was the whipped body butter from Crystal Blue. They even offer this whipped body butter in lavender (it’s being whipped as I type this)!
