Not to start this post off being a total buzz kill but I’m already over the holidays.  Nail polish is the only thing keeping me going.  I started a new job last week and I’m already feeling the pressure to participate in a Secret Santa gift exchange with people I just met…awkward.  They also want everyone help bring Christmas tree ornaments to decorate the tree- I just spent what seems like a million bucks on my own tree.  My family is talking about having barbeque for Christmas dinner…complete with ribs, chicken, links, corn on the cob, and baked beans.  Long. Deep. Sigh.  I’m trying to practice patience.

I use nail polish as my therapy so this post came just in time- just what the doctor ordered.  With holiday parties, shopping, cooking, and connecting with friends and family now is the best time to show off your nails.   As much as I love tradition, I also enjoy being a non-traditionalist.  Red, green, white, and blue will always be traditional colors for the holidays but that does mean we can’t put our own little spin on it.  Yes, its common practice that we look at fashion runways to find trends but truth be told, its celebrities, consumers, as well as bloggers that set the trends.

P.S. I’m working on a separate nail polish post for New Year’s colors.

Periwinkle like China Glaze ”Secret Peri-wink-le” is a nice new spin on traditional sky blue for the holidays.  Rihanna was spotted sporting a gorgeous color similar to this in her “What’s My Name?” video featuring Drake.

Rich Royals like Revlon Top Speed “Royal” is great for the girl that wants to make a bold statement and be noticed.  This color is eye-catching to say the least.  If you wear this color be sure to use a white base coat to really make it pop and be completely opaque.

Somewhat traditional reds.  China Glaze “Ruby Deer” is a nicely done neutral red with a jelly finish (instead of your typical crèmes).  Can you ever go wrong with a traditional red for the holidays?

When a nice traditional simple isn’t an option, go with a deep sexy wine like China Glaze “Naughty and Nice”.  More on the naughty side than the nice side, but who am I to judge?

The holiday nail colors just wouldn’t be complete without white.  Zoya “Celeste” is a frosty semi sheer white.  It almost reminds me of pearls.  So class-aye.

Sugar coated tips.  I love a nice glitter and Ginger and Liz “Take a Chill Pill” is the perfect holiday glitter.  The silver holographic glitter is too pretty to pass up.  This photo doesn’t do this polish any justice.

Golden hues of green.  If you love neutral colors Nina Ultra Pro “Mossy Britches”.  I’ve seen this color like this pop up a lot over the past month or so.

Have a Jolly Holly Christmas…no really.  Cute name, naughty green.  China Glaze “Jolly Holly” is a pretty traditional for the holidays but it works.
