Just wanted to post my nails for the weekend.  I don’t think we need much details…you dolls know all I know how to do is use my dotting tool.  Speaking of dotting tool, I’m looking to buy a bunch in various sizes.  Any suggestions on what site I should order them from?

Calm sensitive skin with our concoction of soothing tropical butters and mushrooms. Our Full of Grace serum bar is made with a concentrated blend of moisturizing murumuru and cupuacu butters to hydrate skin, and rose oil to relieve irritations. We’ve also used portobello mushrooms for their plentiful vitamins and antioxidant property. The serum is easily absorbed by the skin, creating a soothing treatment for the face. Massage into the skin before you use a Fresh Face Mask, or whenever you feel your skin needs a little grace.

Ingredients: Murumuru Butter (Astrocaryum murumur), Calamine Powder, Cupuacu Butter (Theobroma Grandiflorum), Fresh Rose Infusion (Rosa centifolia), Organic Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Perfume, Fresh Portobello Mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus), Chamomile Blue Oil (Matricaria Chamomilla), Rose Oil (Rosa centifolia), Tagetes Oil (Tagetes minuta), *Eugenol, *Geraniol, *Benzyl Benzoate, *Citronellol, *Farnesol, *Limonene, *Linalool.

You guys have been holding out on me!  “Full of Grace” has to be one of the worlds’ best kept secrets.  I’ve been using Lush products for years and never knew they made face serums.  I’ve been looking at a lot of face serums lately (not sure if this has something to do with me turning 28 or what) but I’m not ready to spend over $40 for one.  “Full of Grace” is ….hold on…wait for it…$13.95!  That’s not breaking the bank at all!  I was hesitant to buy it because I have oily skin and they’ve discontinued “Saving Face”, so I had to go with “Full of Grace” which is more moisturizing but also great for calming skin.  Karen at Lush has oily skin and she said she uses it every day and loves it.  After 2+ years she’s never recommended a bad product so I gave it a shot.  OMG! I’m hooked.  The calamine powder is soothing but also does a great job at absorbing oil without drying my skin.  Rose absolute is also calming to the skin and I’ve always loved almond oil.  I’ve used “Full of Grace” as a daily moisturizer and as a nighttime moisturizer.  My skin is smooth, hydrated, and well moisturized, the tone appears to be evening out, and my eczema is happy and under control.  For the value, it’s really hard to find anything wrong with this product, but me being critical of anything that hits the pages of my blog I’m sure I could find something.  The packaging…or the lack of shall I say.  Because of the shape, I wished it came in its own container.  I was trying to figure out how this would work because the Lush massage bar tins are too large.  I feel that Lush should have molded it in a shape that would fit perfectly in the Lush face mask jars; even if that meant adding a couple more dollars.  Just a thought; it’s one of those things I think about every time I put my wonderful face serum back in its yellow paper bag :-\

Tip:  I like to apply the bar directly to my face in three sections, instead of melting it in my hands.  I have oily skin because I’m never afraid to moisture as long as the moisturizer is oil-free, not heavy, and created balance.  You can’t eliminate oil and your skin type is defined by pore skin (as well as the behavior).

Availability:  Lush retail stores and www.LushUSA.com.  If you can, purchase it from the store because it can melt in shipping.  It’s also vegan!

This was my final birthday gift and I had to make it a separate blog post and review it.  I begged my brothers for over a month to get me this vanity mirror for my birthday and wasn’t going to rest until we got it.  I spent almost 3 months researching the 8.5 in. Conair “Reflections” mirror .  I have a large 3 sectional mirror on my vanity but it’s so far back I hate using it and often use a small hand mirror or my closet mirror.  From doing all my research the major complaint I read was that you can’t replace the bulb.  I completely agree; if I can’t change the bulb then it’s not worth my money.  I don’t think anyone has the desire to go out and purchase a new unit just because of the light bulb.  Apparently they’ve updated this model and the light bulb is replaceable.  I’ve had my share of vanity mirrors but this one is the best!  It remains fog-free, 3 light settings, touch control so I don’t have to reach behind my vanity to turn it on and off, it has two sides (8x.1x magnification), satin nickel finish so it doesn’t throw off my room’s décor, and it rotates 360 degrees.  I also love the size of this mirror…I can see my entire chunky face.  They make a smaller size but I don’t see the point- I can easily see a small mirror being a pain to deal with and would probably cause girls to miss key areas (hint hint, the jawline) when applying their makeup.  My only complaint about this mirror is that it gets very warm after being on the highest setting for 30 minutes.  It doesn’t get warm enough to bother me but it is noticeable.  Overall, this was a great investment and it’s not just limited to applying makeup.

PS: I get jealous every time I see these mirrors on Bad Girls Club.  They’re so lucky lol!  It looks like they have the LED non-replicable bulb version.

Availability:  Target stores, Target.com, and other retailers and some department stores.  I’ve searched high and low and Target had the best price.

Jack Constantine created Fizzbanger to transform baths into something new and exciting. Drop one in your bath to experience a symphony of crackling candy, like a science experiment gone awry! The colour will change again and again, from yellow to blue to deep green. Like all of our new Bath Bombs, it takes forever to fizz away-so you can enjoy the spectacle for longer.

Lush is on a roll this week!  In light of this being my birthday week and Lush’s anniversary week, I’ve decided just to make this week all about Lush *queues party music*.  I was never wildly impressed by Lush Bath Bombs.  I fell in love with “Butterball”, “Think Pink”, and “Sex Bomb”, but found myself really disappointed in the rest that I’ve tried.  I decided to give “Fizzbanger” Bath Bomb a try because well….it smells like hot apple cider and its glitter free- I despise glitter.  This bath bomb was so much more than what I expected.  If you have children (rather girl or boy) this is the bath bomb to get.  The novelty of it is really cute.  It starts off pastel yellow, and then it reveals this bright blue core with pop-rocks.  I got a crack out of this just thinking about how my boys would love this.  It even had a cute little note with a comic book graphic that read “BANG”.  I personally just enjoyed the apple cinnamon fragrance and bright green bath water.  I took a bath for 20 minutes and my skin was soft and I smelled like apple and cinnamon.  Double thumbs up for this one Lush!

Well who didn’t see this lawsuit coming?  Sally’s is notorious for creating cheaper versions of popular (and more expensive) beauty products.  Mixed Chicks, Wen, MoroccanOil, Paul Mitchell, and Matrix are just a few companies who have fallen victim, but up until now none have filed a lawsuit…well until last week.  The owners of Mixed Chicks filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Sally’s Beauty (as well as Silk Elements Inc.) because of their new “Mixed Silk by Silk Elements hair product line with California Central District Court on March 22, 2011.  Hey at the end of the day business is business and if you have to do what you have to do to protect the brand you’ve established.

I thought about holding this post off until after my birthday dinner tonight, but hey why not share it now?  I’m no pro when it comes to designs but give me a dotting tool and I’ll do some things.  I used Essie “Lyford Ford” (circa 2007 from the Bahamas collection) as a base color over the entire nail.  Using a dotting tool I layered OPI “San Tan-tonio”, China Glaze “Sunset Sail”, and lastly Essie “Mint Candy Apple”.  I love this design because it makes my nails appear a lot shorter than they really are.  If you have medium to long nails; have fun with this.  For those of you with shorter nails focus on dotting just the tips, otherwise your short nails will look like tiny nubs.  I’ll be posting a new design next week on the day of my actual birthday *BBM happy dance*

The other night I attended the official launch party for Bella Dream Hair, benefiting Autism Speaks, sponsored by Vibe Magazine in West Hollywood at Urban Hardwods. Try saying that three times!

The event was good ol’ classic L.A. fun, while supporting a great cause.  Favorites such as R&B crooner Steph Jones, celebrity stylist Joe Exclusive, and Disney actor Roshon Feagan were just a few in attendance.  I should have had a designated driver to escort me to the event so I could have enjoyed more of (adult) spirits but I had a great time.  They had an overabundance of hor d’ourves and deserts.  We feasted on jerk chicken, turkey meatballs, bruschetta, and Thai chicken salad….which I had to use my “old and never used” chopstick lesson that The Man gave me.  The desserts…*bright light shines from heaven and the harps play*…wonderful.  Cheesecake, regular, raspberry, and chocolate, various cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. Ok enough about food because I’m going to serious start to drool all over my keyboard.

I was able to chat with Bella about her hair extensions line and I’m really impressed with her work ethic and dedication.  She’s approaching her one year anniversary owning and operating Bella Dream Hair and already has a huge following, celebrate clientele, and a well over 10,000 followers on Twitter.  I can’t wait for us to sit and do a full interview and try of course try the hair.

Question:

What face mask do you use?

My answer:

It depends on the season…and my skin.  MOST of the time I used Lush “Love Lettuce”.  It balances my oily skin but most of all it makes my skin really smooth.  If you’re oily than you know how important smooth skin is.  My pores are pretty large so I can truly appreciate a mask that makes my pores appear tiny.  When my skin is at its oiliest and is really just going through some strange things during warmer months I use Lush “Brazened Honey”.  It’s a great detoxing mask.  I’m also slightly addicted to the smell…its one I can’t put into words *inhales deeply like an addict.

These masks are only available in-store only due to their fresh ingredients.  UK shipping is only available to residents in the UK.  Once purchased you can only have them unrefrigerated for about 4 hours.  They also expire after about 3 weeks, but I tend to have a lot of product left over so I tend to use it a few more days after that.  But at around $8 for 2 oz. I can’t complain.

Thanks Elle for the question!
