I recently picked up the September issue of Essence Fall Fashion Magazine and I was delighted to see Tracee Ellis Ross gracing the cover with her signature hair and bold lips. She opened up with Essence writer Kierna Mayo about her relationship with her mom, the original diva, Diana Ross, her personal style and her return to TV in the upcoming show “Reed Between The Lines “with Cosby Kid Malcolm Jamal Werner debuting this fall on BET. According to Kierna Mayo
Ross snatches up her black Hermès Birkin- no she didn’t drop 5,000 on it, it’s a proud fake.
So here are my questions ladies…
When Tracee told Kierna Mayo about her fake Birkin, was that meant for too be included in the interview or was it supposed too remain a Hollywood secret?
Tracee doesnt isnt your typical Hollywood label snob. She often shops vintage and is thrifty. Does it seem like by wearing a fake Birkin bag she’s feeling the pressures of Hollywood?
Have you ever told a friend something that got out that shouldnt have? That seems like what occurred during this interview…just my opinon.
Can you support her and her craft as an artist when she’s not supporting others and their craft? This would be similar to her making a movie and encouraging people to go out and buy the bootleg.
Do you wear knock-offs……. anything?

Maybe it was one of those $200 Vanilla bags.
Isn’t that a knock-off Birkin, just with a different name?
I read the article too and I peeped that. We don’t know what brand of bag she had. Is it possible it could have been a designer brand just not Hermes??? I subscribe to the idea that “Fakes Are Never in Fashion” so I wouldn’t rock a fake Hermes/Louis/Gucci/Chanel bag but I wear Nine West/Aldo/Steve Madden shoes…and arent they mostly all replicas of luxury footwear designs?! (Yes!) but they are still brand name shoes. Now what would be different is if it was a fake bag with a fake Hermes label…That would earn her the ultimate side eye but honestly I don’t think Tracee cares if people know her bag isnt Hermes. If she wanted to invest in the real thing she could most likely afford it. I think the author included that to make Tracee seem “down-to-earth/relate able”. Depending on who reads it could possibly come off as her “airing out Tracee.” just my thoughts

Aren’t Birkins like $5000? I feel her. Go on Tracee! I knew I liked that girl!
Yes, They range anywhere from $5,000-150,000.
Knock-offs never sit well with me, but I understand they work for some. I rather have the more affordable options.
Considering that many of the money from the selling of fakes go to organized crime circles, I would not be proud to say that I have a fake Hermes. Not to mention the thousands of underpaid workers (many children) who make them. It is especially weird that she would buy a fake (assuming it is not a designer made copy) when she should be able to afford a real one.
Knock off means it could be an imitation or it could be a bag made by another designer that looks like a Birkin.
The way I see it is that if it was a “look-alike” made by ____ she should have said that. We’ve all seen look-alikes made by brands such as Forever 21 and Steve Madden. That’s not what I got from the article.

Lables smables…if it weren’t for celebrities wearing certain clothing making it popular and ” Oh, I gotta have…because i saw…wearing it!” then we would all be shopping at walmart and be fine with it…I make good money but I refused to pay that much money for a bag…but everyone makes their own money and are free to do what they want with it…as long as its quality i dont care whose name is on it….and from my experience 9 times outta 10 the fake is a real one that didnt make it to the finish line for one reason or another ( skipped stitching, incorrect zipper placement, etc)…Plus if you know how to dress, you can wear anything…not dont get me wrong, because ive spent years creating a wardrobe because i used to just buy whatever because it was inexpensive but now that im older, i prefer quality in certain things, especially because i dont buy trendy so whatever i do buy, im wearing it season after season so it pays to buy an $80 sweater that will last you versus the $18 sweater because it was cheap….I dont think that she was trying to call her out or anything and just like someone else said, i dont think Ms. Ross even cares and neither do I. I wish ppl wouldn’t focus so much on the asthetics of everything…it was great article and we all love her! Can’t wait for her new show!!!
