I spotted Sally Hansen “Malt” at Rite-Aid drug store last night and came home and changed my nail color.  Yes, on a Friday night as though I had nothing better to do like getting some much needed rest.  I was drawn to this color like a moth to a flame.  I love a nail polish name that’s a single word and easy to remember, but I also like to understand the name.  I just don’t understand malt.  Well it does kind look like the malted part of a Maltball…so maybe they’re on to something.

“Malt” is a cross between deep peach and peach-orange; it really does fit somewhere in the middle.  I’d even be quick to call it tan but it doesn’t have a enough presence of brown.  But it absolutely belongs in the beige family.  It looks more demure and somewhat dusty in the bottle but deepens nicely once applied.  I used two coats and as much as I would love to say how fantastic the formula was, I can’t.  Have you ever tried to polish your nails near a fan?  It was drying faster than I could apply it and the polish wraps around the flattened wand, making it a bit of a pain to get the right amount on the brush.  It’s much like the other colors in the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure line; you’ll either love it or hate it.  The all-in-one (base, color, high shine topcoat) formula is very appealing for girls on the go, but I still use Nubar Foundation Base and Poshe Topcoat.  I have an old swatch of OPI “Samoan Sand” and the shade is almost the same, but much more opaque rather than being sheer.

If you’re on the hunt for “Malt” grab it as soon as possible.  You may even find it on sale since it was part of the Tracy Reese Collection for Spring 2011.
