I’ve been secretly testing CND (Creative Nail Design) Nail Colours for the past 2 weeks, not making any mentions to you lovelies about it. See I can keep a secret! I’ve CND around for a while and saw Kelly with Vampy Varnish wearing Sheer 24K Sparkle at the Beautylish Reception, but I’ve never tried it myself. Come to think of it I haven’t seen them in my area before. I don’t know how I’ve gone this long without trying CND because it’s some kind of awesomeness. Since this is my first time introducing the brand to the blog I’m going to do a breakdown of everything I look into when I find a new brand.
Color and Pigmentation: The labels on the bottles indicate the coverage of the color and I’ve tried several colors from the opaque series and found them all to be 1-coaters. This is great because not only do you know what to expect from the coverage but it also cuts down on drying and application time. This sets a new standard for other brands because I can’t think of any that has so many colors that can be applied using a single cost.
Formula: These babies are smooth and have the perfect consistency; they’re thick enough to glide and work without dragging and becoming spotty or goopy. They were also consistent across the board.
Color Selection: CND has a wide color selection but I don’t feel that it’s the most impressive I’ve seen from a brand. They’ve been around since the 80’s and though they’re innovative and can be seen everywhere during New York Fashion Week, I can’t say that they have a list of colors that the everyday lacquer lover can refer to as iconic shades.
Pricing: $4.50-9.00
Collections and Creativity: Over the past couple years I’ve seen them create a lot of simple seasonal collections that are equally as impressive as massive collections. Despite always being spotted on the runway their collections seems to be driven by the everyday woman with edge and not celebrities, films, or fashion designers. I’m also highly impressed with their revolutionary formula and the Effects Series to change any nail color you have.
Brush, Top and Bottle Design: The brush is thin and a tad wider than the average polish brush. The wand is flat and wide and there’s not much to say about the top; it feels fine. It’s hunky and tapered in the center and has a textured matte finish.
Wear: I noticed minimal tip-wear after 2-3 days and 2 small minute chips after 6 days, after washing my hair twice during that week.
Overall Rating: A+

Pretty colors!
