Everyone has to take a break.

I can’t think of the last time I’ve taken a break from blogging but this has been a crazy year and I’m long overdue for some much needed rest.

I moved back to Los Angeles, drowned myself in events and blogging, my best friend got married, I went back to the Bay for the holidays, thought about moving back, and all while working a full time job with a nightmare of a commute.  So for the next few days I’ll be doing the following:

  • Reading
  • Playing Words with Friends
  • Reading
  • Taking baths filled with bubble bars and bath bombs from Lush
  • Eat wings
  • Reading
  • Select a winner of the Bella Dream Hair Giveaway
  • And work on post for 2012…..see you dolls on 1/1/12

BTW this is my 1,645th post…OMG!

UPDATE 5/16/2012 4:12PM:  It’s been reported that Tami is seriously ducking and dodging the process server for this case.  When asked about it on Twitter she prompt;y shut down her Twitter account.  I’m sure she’ll be back…she has 30 days.

Remember back some time ago when I posted the story about Tami Roman accepting (and presumably wearing) hair from Bella Dream Hair?  Well she’s finally been hit with the lawsuit stemming from the situation.

Tami Roman

TMZ.com is reporting:

YOU SKANK, YOU STOLE MY HAIR!!! … that’s the essence of a new — and might we say hilarious — lawsuit against “Basketball Wives” star Tami Roman.

Constance Corleone — who owns an extension line called Bella Dream Hair — filed the case, claiming Tami’s rep contacted her last September and asked to try out Constance’s product.

According to the suit, Constance obliged, and then was horrified to learn Tami had fired up her own extension line under the name, Curls By Roman.   What’s worse, Constance claims, Tami was advertising her line with a pic of her wearing Constance’s extensions.

Thus began a serious of very funny tweets, including one from Tami which read, “Fraudulent people trying to take credit NOT.  People trying to take credit for this hair.  WTF they crazy.”

After some back and forth, with Constance demanding that Tami send her extensions back to her, Tami tweeted, “Mad that I already mailed that S**T back2u cuz I got they address-would took it to Constance myself lying bitch.”

Constance is suing for more than $500k.

What tangled webs they weave …

  • Levatte owns 51% of Keyshia Dior, LLC
  • Lavatte agreed to provide all operating capital such as marketing expenses, the cost to develop the line and all other costs of operation of the business venture
  • Keyshia Dior was to contribute her name and likeness, to assist in the artistic development of the brand, to market and promote the lipstick line, and to provide ideas for the lipstick line and boutique.
  • Keyshia Dior, LLC (plaintiff) contracted Lady Burd to manufacture the “Secret Kisses” lipstick products for Keyshia Dior, LCC and setup the online boutique while marketing Keyshia Dior
  • The following year Watson (Keyshia Dior) began engaging in direct compition with Keyshia Dior, LCC by establishing a lipstick line and online boutique under the name “Ka’Oir”, despite contractual and legal obligations to Levatte and Keyshia Dior, LCC
  • The suit alleges that Watson unlawfully withdrew $7, 400 from the business account
  • Around April 6, 2011, jointly registered the name “Keyshia Dior” with Milania Racquel despite already contributing the name to Keyshia Dior, LLC then around the same time formed Leslie-James and registered the fictitious name “Ka’Oir”
  • It accuses (which I personally don’t feel is an accusation since I’ve seen her demonstrate this behavior with bloggers on Twitter) Watson of diverting exisiting and potention customers away from Secret Kisses and refered them to “Ka’Oir”, claiming to be “authentic Secret Kisses”.  This was proven using tweets from Watson’s own account
  • It also states that Watson unlawfully contacted Lady Burd to divert products to her and make changes to the packaging
  • The design and appearance of the defendant’ website www.kaoir.com is strikingly similar to the plantiff’ pre-existing copyrighted site www.secretikissses.com and contains elements and has the same “look and feel” as theirs

My opinion, if you care….Keyshia could not have thought in the bawse-iest of bawse-iest of moments that she could create a lipstick line based off the same likeness of a company she’s already contractually obligation to work for…she didn’t.  She’s not that dumb.  She also could not that thought that it would be acceptable to bash the original brand and company online and tell people that they’re frauds and make claims that she did it to protect herself.  A real “bawse” move?  You go file a suit against the company and outline exactly what they’ve done to defraud you.  Simple.  I’ve ranted about Keyshia and all of this Secret Kisses confusion in the past and also witnessed her demanding Aprill of Glitter Gloss Garbage to remove a blog post (in her words) immediately since she no longer works with Secret Kisses.  She’s also @’ed me and my readers from doing searches on Twitter a few times when they’ve inquired about the line and referred us to her new “Ka’Oir” site.  She’s done nothing but demonstrate poor business decisions that’s unfitting of a CEO.

Via Temptalia

The Velvet Collection is an effortless reinvention of the concept of traditional luxury. An homage to the designers’ sartorial heritage and to their instictive ability to draw forth the essence of Mediterranean indulgence, the scents of the collection are opulent fragrances inspired by creative influences gathered from the sublimity of their lives. In an audacious inversion of subject matter, the artisan has become the muse, carrying the essence of Sicilian Baroque within.

Six scents, each bearing reference to specific olfactory influences coming from the designers themselves: sweet, woody Velvet Vetiver (with notes of galbanum, fig, and vetiver), raw, seductive Velvet Wood (with notes of ebony wood, benzoin, and leather), luxurious Velvet Patchouli (with notes of patchouli, kephalis, musk), sensual Velvet Sublime (with notes of mandarin, neroli, and orange flower), decadent Velvet Desire (with notes of gardenia, frangipani, and tuberose), and a rich, hypnotic Velvet Love (with notes of pepper, carnation, and ylang ylang). A collection where tradition and innovation collide in profound accord.

Each retails for $195.00/50ml and available exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue beginning December 2011.

Not too shabby for a tube of $12 awesomegloss…not too shabby at all.

You really can’t beat a great violet lipstick and with MAC “All of My Purple Life” becoming almost impossible to find, I had to find a backup.  American Apparel “American Violet” is a sheer violet lip has a crème finish, and I found it to be moisturizing.  Instead of it disappearing after a few hours it turns into almost of a lip stain; lacking shine but still holding lots of color.  If you’re a girl that’s afraid of bright colors this is the gloss to go with.  Since it’s sheer you won’t have to worry about it “yelling” at people.

Well go head on AA…holding it down in the cosmetics department once again.  We need blush next!

I’m such a creature of habit when it comes to shopping for clothes, and for the most part stick to a handful of stores.  But something’s gotta break me of that habit, right?

I took a trip to Sears the other night for the “Splurge vs Steal” challenge and a challenge it was.  Holiday shoppers must have grabbed a great deal of the pieces I wanted because I had the hardest time.  In their defense, I’m not the most idea customer.  I’m short and far from tiny and like most women I’m particular on the way clothing fits on my body but don’t want to blow my makeup budget on clothes.  Did I also mention that I live in black? Yes, 90% of everything I own is black…so that just adds to the level of difficulty.

The Kardashian Kollection the first section to catch my attention.  Mainly because it had such eye-catching displays and was next to the beauty department.  A lot of the pieces were too “glam” for my taste but they had a few great items that were reasonably priced without looking cheap.  I grabbed a pair of black semi opaque leopard print tights for 30% off ($12.60), similar to $30 versions I’ve see elsewhere.  Though the cocktail rings in the Kollection was cute as all out, I feel that they were more of the splurge than a steal at $20+.

Surprisingly Apostrophe was right up my alley; very modern, comfortable, and basic.  I love basic pieces because you can add to them and dress them up…so many possibilities.  I feel like when you buy something that’s already “dolled up”, you limit yourself.  I found a $12 black blazer style cardigan on the “Insane Deal” rack…in MY size!  Well it was a medium but it fits perfectly and covers my rump.

I’m thinking about going to Sears in a different part of town to see what other “steals” I can find.

Who knew Sears has cute clothes these days?

dolce & gabbana l'imperatrice 3 empress review

Launched by the design house of Dolce & Gabbana in 2009, L’Imperatrice (named after the Empress Tarot card) is a women’s fragrance with base notes that smell of soft musk with a fruity-beer twist. The scent is not too feminine. Even with a name like L’Imperatrice, a man can wear this fragrance.

Guess who has a new signature scent?  THIS girl!  During an early morning shopping excursion in Downtown LA while I was putting countless perfume bottles on the counter, possibly being a sales associate’s worse nightmare; pointing at everything and running of fragrance names a mile a minute, Angelo (our fashion and style contributor) presented me with Dolce & Gabbana L’Imperatrice.

Upon first sniff, you smell top notes of fruity watermelon and kiwi but with a boozy twist.  Not in a “hey were you drinking all night” type of way, but I do notice it.  The mid notes have a floral aquatic feel which makes it super clean and juicy, but not girlie-fruity.  It dries down to soft flora musk that’s not too feminine and even the right type of guy cold pull off.  And not to brag about the bargain but I only paid $45 (could have paid $40 if I wanted the full tester without the top).  I also saw the same deal online during a quick Google search.

The bottle is very class and straight to the point, rectangle-shaped made with heavy glass, topped with a gloss micro pleated top.  It isn’t purse friendly at this size and weight but I’m sure if I remove these 20 tubes of lip gloss I’ve have plenty of room….hell I will make room.
