What it is:
A high-pigment foundation for full coverage with a long-lasting, beautiful finish.
What it does:
Kat created this foundation to provide exceptional coverage, without compromising a smooth, striking finish. Formulated with 21 percent pigment, this powerful formula was developed to match a broad range of skintones with bold coverage—the proprietary pigments can even effectively cover tattoos. The combination of raw materials and the best siliconic elastomers and siliconic esters provide 24-hour wear with transfer resistance. Natural polymers absorb oil for a matte, soft finish and the added emollients provide a velvety texture for perfectly smooth, hydrated skin.

Before trying this foundation I was forewarned that I may have some issues with the shade range, because of hues being off. While the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation has a decent shade lineup the hues do seem to be off with the darker shades I swatched; some were too warm and red-toned and others were too pink. My closest shade was Medium 62 which is almost perfect but a too yellow; so when I do use it I warm it using MAC MSF Natural or bronzer…not all over but as I would to contour just not as deep.
I love the bottle of this foundation; it’s bold & edgy yet classy & regal. The pump dispenses a little more than a pea-size amount at a time. I used 2 pumps for total coverage and love the soft natural matte finish (not matte as described on the bottle). The coverage is great; I definitely see why their team boosts about it being highly pigmented and containing 21% of pigments. The performance was great and it lasted well over my usual work day. I took a nap in my makeup that day and it still looked great when I woke up. My only (and biggest) complaint about this foundation was how heavy it looks and feels; this stuff is rather thick. I actually don’t mind heavy makeup (in layers for certain looks) but this felt like my skin couldn’t breathe which made me really self conscious during the day I felt like every could see it. I also didn’t like the way it sat on my face and seemed to never blended in yet it was continuously blending within itself (possible due to too much dimethicone). I think the concept was there but the heavy texture and appearance really dropped the rating and the cons outweighed the pros. My personal opinion is that no matter how long wear a foundation can perform and how transfer resistant it is, if you look cakey you just have an entire day of looking cakey. When I tried using 1 pump the coverage wasn’t as great.
