A few weeks ago I got an invite to attend the preview event for MAC Cosmetics Playland Collection. I get invitations to a good number of beauty events in Los Angeles but this one was different. I noticed that I didn’t get a mailer for the event like MAC typically sends to the public. When I arrived at the event the line was out the door and down the block. I was thinking ‘what can possibly be going on’. The last time I attended a MAC event that had a line that looked like this was the release party for Disneyland Villains. Ohhhh if I only knew! They had the music blasting, the employees were uber helpful and were enjoying themselves just as much as the attendees, cotton candy galore, champagne, ladies dressed as playful giraffes dancing on stilts, handsome male servers, giant balls making its way around the crowds, and makeup by the pound. They completely redesigned the Robertson Blvd store and it was packed wall-to-wall. Makeup artist, @liamdean94 added some “Plum Dressing” eyeshadow to my cheeks since I wanted a soft plum shade and later that night @tiffylovelipgloss added MAC “Hi Jinks!” Casual Color that really took it over the top as over my existing sheer pink lipgloss. This color is great in person and most of the looks used variations of layering. One popular example is to apply the lipstick, followed by pigment mostly in the center then adding a lipgloss. I’ll have to post an example soon. You can get an ideal by my swatch below.
