Milani “Gems”…The Deborah Lippmann “Happy Birthday” Dupe

The polish game is getting serious—if we didn’t think it was already.  This has to be the dupe of a lifetime and I honestly can’t believe what I’m seeing.  I don’t know if I’m being dramatic or if I’m just overly excited.  Deborah Lippmann “Happy Birthday” was known as one of the hottest nail polishes around that could not be duped—unless you made your own with a crap load of craft store glitter and wanted lumpy nails.  Of all companies to create a dupe of “Happy Birthday” it was Milani.  I highly doubt that this was a coincidence and it was a smart move.  I didn’t think Milani had it in them since I’m rarely impressed by the colors (or the quality) of the colors they put out.  I see I have to pay attention to them more often if they’re pulling moves like this.  The only difference I can see is that “Gems” has a little more red glitter than silver.  I highly doubt that anyone would notice and if a friend does, she just may be a stalker.  Besides that the application was the same and so was the glitter density.  If you plan on grabbing this $5 dupe you better act fast because it’s limited edition.  The good news is that they’re becoming easier to find (mostly at CVS drug stores).  If you’re really pressed to find it and can’t, you can always pay $20 for the original—my wallet just tightened up at the thought lol.  Manicurist Jennifer Cherry grabbed me a bottle of “Gems” last week, so now I have 2.  You know what that means?  Giveaway time!  I love being a secret Santa.

  6. I would definitely wear this over red polish and do heavy glitter on the tip that fades out as it goes down. And this SCREAMS New Years to me! Little black dress, chunky statement necklace, bold lip, neutral sparkly eyes!
