Here’s a chat-style format review of the Murad Acne & Aging Skin Solutions Kit I did with my best friend N2Beauty (Nycee).  I selected her for the review because having a step-by-step  detailed kit is her style since she’s busy and more of a simple gal.  Keep it simple and she’s a happy camper.  She’s also in her late 20′s (a good time to focus on anti-aging products and routines) and started experiencing some breakouts possibly due to the stress of planning a wedding.

Krissy: Ok so you tried the Murad Anti-Aging Acne Kit
Nycee: Yes, I used for 1 week
Krissy: Did you notice anything the first few days?
Nycee: In the first few days, I noticed that it broke me out. My face appeared breakout free until about the 3rd day
Nycee: I also noticed that it made my face feel heavy, but I’m used to not having anything on my face so I may be overacting to the 3 different products I had to use.
Krissy: Were they new breakouts, did they look faint in color and feel heavy or did they kind of appear out of nowhere and look to be raised to the top and ready to ‘pop’?
Nycee: They kind of appeared out of nowhere and looked as if they were raised to the top and ready to be popped overnight
Nycee: It wasn’t all over, just on a couple of spots on my face
Krissy: Ok, so it’s more likely that they were already there and just not drawn to the surface, which is good because you want something that will draw out that bacteria
Krissy: You said it felt heavy? Do you know which product that made it feel heavy?
Nycee: The moisturizer was the 3rd and last product I had to apply and once I lay down for the night, my face felt heavy. Usually my face is washed and cleaned at night, but moisturizer added in the morning.
Krissy: Gotcha, did the Time Release Acne Cleanser make your skin feel clean?
Nycee: Yes, it felt clean and refreshed.
Nycee: the scent wasn’t overwhelming which I appreciated, since some cleaners have too much fragrance for me
Krissy: And did you notice a difference in any fine lines and the tone of your skin (both texture/ smoothness)>
Krissy: *?
Nycee: I don’t think I noticed many fine lines before using the product, but after using the product, my skin looked more even tone all over. It was almost like to it pulled more dirt off my face than my usual cleaner
Krissy: A full-size bottle of the cleanser is $30 (6.75 oz.), would you purchase it?
Nycee: I would really consider it. I have to make sure that it doesn’t turn out the by only using the cleanser and not the other products that it has some negative effective on my skin
Krissy: Ok…now step 2 of the kit is the Acne & Wrinkle Reducer, which is to be applied all over.  The texture looks like a gel.  How did you like it?
Nycee: It wasn’t that bad, in my hand it was a little jelly, but went smoothly on my face
Krissy: Did it feel heavy after using it?
Nycee: I could feel it on my face, but couldn’t see it on my face. It had a slight tingly feeling to it. I would say heavy, but could definitely feel like I was wearing something
Krissy: Did you like it and notice anything special about it? A fill-size 2 oz. bottle is $58.  It looks to be like a gel/serum that has a higher concentration of ingredients than the other products
Krissy: Here’s what Murad says about it: This multi-active treatment rapidly improves skin’s appearance by alleviating existing adult acne, preventing the development of new acne, and restoring collagen to more youthful levels. With optimal collagen levels restored, skin regains a healthy resilience, fullness, and improved barrier function strength.
Nycee: I liked it, but didn’t notice anything special about it, As someone who doesn’t know much about skin care, I usually look for the basics of clean my face and wouldn’t pay $58 for a face product
Jennice: That sounds wonderful, but I didn’t experience that, may that comes with continued use of the product for more than 1 week
Krissy: True
Krissy: The 3rd step was the Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 20 PA++…I don’t have the box but looking at the directions it looks great for day time use but needed at night since you need a night time moisturizer ..Did you use it morning and night?
Nycee: I used it at night. I didn’t realize that I could break it and use the moisturizer only in the morning. I liked that the instructions clearly labeled what to use and the order
Krissy: What do you mean break it?
Krissy: So you used it morning and night or just at night?
Nycee: I used it at night and in the morning. It may not have felt heavy if I didn’t use it a night right before going to bed
Krissy: As a consumer when I see SPF I never think I should use it at night since I sleep in the dark BUT this one looks good for both
Krissy: How was your oil level? You’re combo more on the oily side, right?
Nycee: Yes, I am more combo than oily. I didn’t notice a difference in my oil levels with using this product.
Krissy: Really? Hmmm according to them it should have reduced the amount of oil which I find odd because if it’s an anti-aging kit you need all the moisture we can get since we lose that as we get older
Jennice: Yes, immediately after using the product, it felt different, but thought out the night and day no difference than when not using it
Krissy: The last product which is a spot treatment to use when you get a new pimple is the Acne Spot Treatment, you apply is just on the pimple(s) before the moisturizer, did you need to use it?
Krissy: Oh BTW that moisturizer was $46, would you buy it?
Nycee: Yes, I used 1 day when I noticed the couple pimps that surfaced after using the product. It felt similar to the Acne and Winkle Reducer.
Nycee: throughout the day the pimple came to ahead and was gone within a couple of days
Krissy: The spot treatment is $18, could you see yourself adding it to your routine when you have need for it?
Nycee: I would consider the moisturizer, but if I could find cheaper with the same results would go for that
Nycee: I could use the spot remover, if works that face when pimple appear that’s awesome
Krissy: The entire kit is $45 at Ulta (I know you’ve never been to Ulta with me lol) but would you purchase the entire kit once you’re done with this series?
Nycee: I would consider it for special occasions. The overall price of the kit isn’t bad and seems reasonable
Krissy: We need to plan a trip to Ulta, I think you would like it even though you’re not into all ‘this’ lol
Nycee: I like to shop… so I’m down.
Krissy: Skin care isn’t for special occasions, not that your wedding next month isn’t special but it’s an everyday task lol
Nycee: true…but I like to keep as simple as possible. I’m getting better
Krissy: You are getting better; the days of bar soap and lotion on your face are far behind
Krissy: Thanks for reviewing the kit; we can do a follow-up in a week to give it more time
Nycee: you’re welcome
