This is what happens when you want to wear dark nail colors but NEED that pop of neon; you get random nail colors like L’Oréal “After Hours” (navy blue with a touch of indigo), L.A. Girl (now Love & Beauty at Forever 21) “Flushed” (bright peach), neon purple and green Color Club stripers, and China Glaze “Marry A Millionaire” (purple and neon green holographic bar glitter).  Simple. Random. With no ***s given.

I really need to practice applying my polish thick on my left middle finger lol. My bed is so wavy but I’ll take the waves over ridges any day *knocks on wood, that I don’t get ridges next*.

These babies are truly something special.  Glitter polish has been making a huge comeback but so many of them are repeats of the typical clear base, sparkly glitter.  China Glaze Prismatic Chroma’s look very dimensional in person and almost give a 3-D effect.  I love the look of these glitters but would have loved to see these done with neon colors for summer, or even black or white.  With keeping in mind that this is a spring collection, I will give the simple colors pass.

Since the glitter varies in size and it’s packed with shimmer and micro shimmer, the application was perfect.  You can get away with 2 coats for complete coverage but they pop even more with 3 coats.  Though the holographic effect is not as pronounced as it should have been (given the name of this collection), I still think these glitters are amazing.

Full Spectrum -  dusty gray/ fuchsia iridescent pink base with pink holo glitter and green, orange, blue, and pink hexagon glitter.  I was so excited about this one but it has more purple tones than I thought it would.  Visually, I thought it would be more baby pink.

Prism – dirty deepened lavender iridescent base with multi-toned lavender holo glitter and green, orange, blue, and pink hexagon glitter.  This color is so gorgeous!  I can’t wait to wear it with dark colors and just play up the accents glitter colors.  I was concerned that the depth of this color wouldn’t translate well during the application, but it did.  I only used 2 coats.

Liquid Crystal – blue shimmer and purple iridescent base with blue holo glitter and green, orange, blue, and pink hexagon glitter.  Ehhhh.  This color just didn’t do it for me.  Oddly enough I’m using it as an accent color for my mani this week.   But I would say this is a must-have color.

Optical Illusion – green shimmer base with emerald green, teal, and aqua blue glitter, along with green, orange, blue, and pink hexagon glitter.  If you don’t get a single color from this collection your NEED this one! While I was watching The Hunger Games last night, there was a scene early in the movie where Katniss is stuck in a tree strapped down preparing for a catnap.  The tree had the prettiest shades of iridescent green.  I kept thinking ‘why wasn’t this in the polish collection’?

Ray-Diant – golden shimmer with hints of green, with tarnished gold glitter with green, orange, blue, and pink hexagon glitter.  Something very regal about this one, it doesn’t have the usual yellow gold glitter.

Polarized – silver shimmer base with silver hex glitter, with green, orange, blue, and pink hexagon glitter.  I wasn’t in love with this one.  I have seen China Glaze do something similar with their 3-D collection.  It also reminds me of those New Year’s Eve plastic hats people used to wear in the late 80’s.

The Man and I normally don't make much of a fuss about Valentine's Day but this year we decided to give it a try. After 14 years he's forgotten that I'm allergic to pineapples. Guys are so funny lol.

Thanks Mom!

Something simple.  I wasn’t feeling hearts this year; normally I’m all about hearts, butterflies, and balloons.

I’m sure I’m late, but I didn’t have a clue that China Glaze was releasing a magnet polish collection.  Well I didn’t officially know.  We all know how China Glaze loves to jump on trends.  I don’t have any official information on these since I grabbed a bottle while at the International Salon and Spa Expo.  The collection consists of 6 magnetic nail lacquers and I purchased “Attraction” (metallic charcoal gray with a hint of tarnished gold micro shimmer) with the accompanying single 3-pattern design magnet.  The formula was very odd, but I was warned ahead of time that it is thick, and that it was.  I was able to do this manicure with a single coat, so not only is the formula thick but it was also well pigmented.  I was able to hold my nails up to the light and not see any blotches or nail tip.  The process is easy to follow and I did not find it to be time consuming; you polish the nail then apply the magnet being careful not to touch the wet, and you do this nail by nail.  I held the magnet over the wet nail for 15 seconds, but this still did not seem to make the design more pronounced.  This could be due to a weak magnet or that I should have used 2 coats, either way I still love the look.

I’ve been a fan of Rusk professional hair care line for years, so I was excited to see them at the show.  They had their regular product line up and were also there to present the new Being Sexy line up, set to be releasing during Mary/ June 2012.  Sadly, I missed Nancy “the queen of great hair” O’Donnell yesterday signing autographs.  She’s so awesome…and that hair…

China Glaze Wicked Style

China Glaze Wicked Style

Aquadelic – crème aqua blue with a splash of green; it has more neon tones than For Audrey.

Dance Baby – crème mid-tone cool baby blue

Electric Beat – crème periwinkle…it does have more blue but not nearly as much as my camera picked up.  Secret Periwinkle has more purple but isn’t as stark.

Fuchsia Fanatic – crème fuchsia pink with purple tones

Gaga for Green – crème grass green with yellow tones.  I was really hoping for more of a creaming somewhat pastel green from the press pictures.  It’s a shade (maybe a shade and a half) lighter than Starboard and less blue.  Both pretty but I don’t think you need both in your stash.

Gothic Lolita – mid-tone purple with multi-dimensional purple, pink, and blue shimmer.  It’s very pretty color that gives almost an iridescent glow.

Kinetic Candy – crème light blue crème.  Everything about this color is perfect, I love that it doesn’t have too much turquoise of green.

Make Some Noise – crème tangerine.  It’s a tad milder than High Hopes, which is brighter, but both are equally pretty.

Sunshine Pop – mildly frosted sunny yellow

Sweet Hook – crème lilac with hues of pink.  In the bottle it looks like OPI Steady as She Rose, but once on the nail it doesn’t look similar at all.

Techno – clear base with chunk and small hexagon glitter.  Kind of tired of seeing this combination.  I think we can retire it now.

Wicked Style – crème pink that actually does remind me of tropical punch

As much as I love this collection, I feel that CG was a little too ‘laxed with this collection.  Don’t get me wrong this collection has some collections that you’ll definitely want to hunt down, but with the high amount of dupes in this collection I can’t really tell where their focus was…possibly on the Hung Games Collection?

I found the application to be consistent across the board; they were all somewhat on the thicker side but with even color payoff.  Many of the colors could have been 1-coaters but I used 2 coats for each swatch.  The color payoff of the creamy pastels (Dance Baby, Kinetic Candy, and Sweet Hook) were great; which is good because most can really be a pain to apply with noticeable lines and blotchiness.  I did notice some inconsistencies with the brushes; some were thin, others were thick and flared out at the tip making it difficult to apply.  I’ve always talked about how China Glaze doesn’t have the best brushes.  I can only hope they improve on this in the future.  Brands often found at drugstores for around the same price have better brushes than these.
