The time honored ritual followed by geisha is as essential to exquisite skin as her preparations.

Ritual is that place where time ceases to exist.

Unlike Western routines marked by harsh, skin stripping formulas and the use of “cover-up” cosmetics, these ceremonies focus on cleansing, massaging, nourishing, and protecting the skin via natural, time-tested botanicals and minerals. These beauty sacraments are akin to a spiritual and aesthetic meditation.

TATCHA’s beauty ritual faithfully emulates the finely honed, effortless regimen of the geisha. This elegant ritual is suitable for all ethnicities and ages, but especially for those with combination skin seeking solutions for prevention and repair.

PURE:  Tatcha may have very well created the best cleansing oil we’ve ever seen.  One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil is described as “a beautiful blend of camellia and rice bran oils. Melts away even waterproof makeup leaving skin fresh and pure.”  But it’s so much more.  If you’ve ever oil cleansed then you’re use to double cleansing; once using the oil on dry skin, then again using a couple drops of water to emulsify the cleanser, followed by rinsing. Failure to emulsify can result in the dirt and oil leaving a residue.  One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil allows you to skip that step with leaving a residue of dirty & oil.  I used it both ways and each way works great but I still prefer to use the 2-step method (mostly because I’m a creature of habit).  This oil has the same consistency as others I’ve used; slightly thin but easy to manipulate.  What I did notice was that this one snatches makeup and dirt a lot better & faster than the competition and it does not burn my eyes.  Yesss! Take off those layers of mascara and be kind to my eyes!  It also contains rare camellia (tea flower) which has anti-oxidant properties and benefits, rice (bran oil) which acts as a skin smoothing and brightening skin protector, and green tea.  It’s a lot more than just a skincare cleaner.  I’ve added the full size bottle to my Christmas wish list because I honestly cannot envision it not being included in my everyday routine.  Rating:  A+

POLISHED:  Rice Enzyme Powder is another winner from the line up!  The powders come in 3 different formulas to fit the needs of all skin types; gentle, normal, and deep.  These start as a powder enzyme (enzymes gently “eat”/ dissolve dead skin cells) exfoliate which is activated by tiny drops of water.  Not only does this help with the longevity of the product but it makes it great for traveling!  I’ve blogged about the benefits of rice and enzymes but the difference with these is that the cream adheres to the skin better than foams which can easily make the application uneven.  I went with the gentle formula and only noticed a small amount of redness (between the eyebrows for some odd reason).  Another bonus of having of the cream formula is that it remains active while on the skin.  Gels can often dissolve too quickly and foams dry too quickly so you have to keep manipulating it for it to remain active which is never good for sensitive skin.  These are perfect!  Rating:  A

RADIANT:  The Deep Brightening Serum feels wonderful and it doesn’t agitate my eczema like some others can, so it’s great for people with sensitive skin but I was expecting to see more noticeable results, especially because of the price point.  Yes, my skin looked a little better but I didn’t see the wow factor.  I’d have to say it works best as an overall starter serum for women looking to be proactive with their anti-aging to assist with the overall appearance of your skin.  But for those with skincare issues and concerns you may want to save those coins.  Rating:  C

SUPPLE:  Moisture Rich Silk Cream is a rich decadent moisturizer with ingredients like rice germ oil, silk proteins, camellia, and green tea.  OhEmGee. Let me tell you something.  I have oily skin, so I expected it to be a little heavy on me (which is was) and that’s a good sign that those of you with dry or mature skin will absolutely benefit from it.  I also tested this one alone (without the entire lineup) and noticed that the overall appearance and texture of me skin looked great.  It also did not agitate by eczema or sensitize my skin.  If I had dry skin I would definitely consider investing the full size jar.  Kind of surprised this one did come in various formulas for those of us with normal and oily skin.  I currently have A.G. testing out this moisturizer since he has dry skin so he can give me his opinion, so expect another review very soon.  Rating:  B
