5 Awesome Non-Surgical Facial Procedures That Will Help You Look Years Younger

Would you love to have younger-looking, radiant skin? There are many things you can do to achieve this look, without opting for surgery. Here are five of the top facial procedures that create awesome results.

Have you ever taken a selfie and then been surprised by the resulting picture? Where did all those wrinkles come from?

Aging gracefully is okay, but it doesn’t really work in our age of social media, does it? And yet, the idea of plastic surgery is downright scary. Nobody wants to share the stage with celebrities who have had plastic surgery mishaps.

What, then, can you do? Luckily, there are nonsurgical facial procedures to choose from. They can give you amazing results without the risks of surgery.

Below we go over the top five procedures that will give you the best results. Read on for more information!

1. Botox and Other Botulinum Injections

Botox injections are the most well-known nonsurgical face treatment to look younger. Anyone who has watched a Real Housewives episode has seen what too many Botox injections look like! Used properly, however, they are a safe and effective way to soften the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes and on the forehead.

Botox is derived from the botulinum toxin. It’s no longer the only injectable form, though. Other drug names include:

  • Dysport
  • Xeomin
  • Myobloc

The last one is new. So far, it appears to work as well as Botox, even on people who are immune to its effects.

With all these drugs, the doctor injects tiny doses into your forehead and around your eyes. The injections don’t hurt too much and can be done quickly.

Remember, though, botulinum doesn’t work right away. Don’t get upset, therefore, if you leave the doctor’s office, and your wrinkles are still there!

In general, it can take anywhere from three to seven days for the effects to appear. Even so, Botox is popular for a reason: it works.

Also, remember, Botox is only a temporary solution. You’ll have to repeat the injections every four months or so for long-lasting results.

2. Chemical Peel

Chemical peels can be used to address a variety of skin conditions, including:

  • Sun damage
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Age spots, blotchiness, discoloration
  • Acne scarring or mild injury/surgery scars

They are, then, a versatile treatment. Peels are also a less complicated procedure depending on whether you’re receiving a light, medium, or deep peel.

All peels use an acid solution to remove outer layers of skin. They take about fifteen minutes to apply. A light peel requires almost no recovery time. With a deep peel, you have to allow the skin time to heal, although the results are far more dramatic.

Remember, though, the effects of chemical peels are cumulative. That means you’ll often have to repeat treatments to get the results you want. This is especially true with light peels, which can be repeated every few weeks. Medium- to deep-peels, on the other hand, require six to twelve months between treatments.

Peels were eclipsed in the early part of this millennium by high-tech lasers, but they’ve been making a comeback. They often perform just as well or better than lasers at a much lower price. What’s more, they can be done at any reputable doctor’s office, such as this Skin Science Clinic.

3. Injectables

Injectable treatments are a quick, easy, and effective way to look younger again. They are also known as wrinkle fillers, soft tissue fillers, or dermal fillers, and they replace volume lost naturally with aging. Injectables allow you to fill in certain areas of your face or hands, thereby smoothing out the skin.

When filled in, wrinkles and fine lines in these areas disappear. Common problem concerns addressed by injectables are frown lines, laugh lines, and even your lips.

Treatment is fast–under 30 minutes–and requires little to no downtime. What’s more, results last anywhere from 4 months to a year.

It’s like having a facelift without surgery. And a much less expensive one at that!

4. Microdermabrasion

Have you heard of dermabrasion? It’s an intense procedure that sands away top layers of your skin and requires weeks of healing. Microdermabrasion is a gentler alternative requiring no surgery.

A microdermabrasion treatment uses either a fine-tipped instrument or fine crystals. They exfoliate the top layer of your skin. The doctor then vacuums away the exfoliated skin, which will at first be pink and tight.

Recovery usually occurs within the first 24 hours, though, which isn’t too much downtime compared to some other treatments. There are few side effects, and the treatment is generally safe for all skin types.

What’s more, microdermabrasion effectively addresses the following problems:

  • Reduces wrinkles and fine lines
  • Improves the efficacy of your skincare products
  • Brightens skin and improves its tone
  • Reduces age spots
  • Improves acne scars

You may see results after one treatment, but keep in mind microdermabrasion is often done in a series of treatments. This ensures the best results.

One final note: if you’ve had microdermabrasion, be careful in the sun. Your skin will be a lot more sensitive to its harmful rays.

5. Thermage

The last recommended treatment is highly effective but not for the faint-of-heart. Thermage is an almost surefire way to improve the appearance of saggy skin, but it is a painful procedure. You might feel like your skin is burning during treatment.

Thermage uses radio-frequency energy to stimulate collagen production. Your skin will tighten and firm up as a result. Think of all the common saggy areas of our bodies:

  • Face
  • Jowls
  • Neck
  • Knees

Thermage can fix them. Patients usually see results within four to six months after treatment. And, results are often dramatic.

With Thermage, you usually only need one treatment session. That’s good news, considering how painful the procedure can be for some people! Regardless, it’s one of the best nonsurgical wrinkle treatments around.

Conclusion: The Best Nonsurgical Facial Procedures

There you have it! The five top nonsurgical facial procedures to help you look younger again.

These treatments can help you achieve flawless selfies if that is your goal. At the very least, your confidence will receive a much-needed boost!
