People everywhere are starting to embrace the idea of self-care. Love art and culture? Don’t miss these 5 self-care ideas for creative types.

Millennials’ obsessions with self-care sometimes get a bad reputation. But in reality, it’s a tradition that has been practiced for thousands of years.

The Ancient Greeks believed that self-care made people more honest, and felt that it would encourage them to treat other people better.

There are countless practices and activities that count as self-care. Depending on your personality and interests, some self-care activities will work better than others.

If you consider yourself a creative-type, keep reading. We’re bringing you five self care ideas that will nurture and inspire your artistic, creative soul.

1. Disconnect and Get Back to Nature

While some of the self care ideas on this list are geared solely towards those with creative tendencies, this is one idea that everyone can benefit from.

Disconnecting from electronic devices and getting outside to enjoy some fresh air is a great way to relax and reboot your brain.

You don’t have to hit the trails for a multi-day hike to indulge in some nature-themed self-care. Even just taking a stroll through your local park can be a great way to unwind and relax.

If you’re artistic or creative, take your art outside. Paint or sketch a nature scene, or bring a camera along and take photos of anything that catches your eye.

2. Create a Mood Board

All of the self care ideas on this list are designed to help you relax and unwind. But some are also great for boosting your creativity to help you get inspired and motivated.

One great way to do both is by creating a mood board. A mood board is a physical or digital art piece that features colors, patterns, and pictures – all inspired by your current feelings.

If you’ve never had one before, you can use a moodboard creator to get started.

3. Give Away Your Work

If your day job requires you to use your creative skills, this self-care idea might not be for you. But if you have a creative hobby that you enjoy for fun, using it to bring joy to others can do wonders for your own personal health and happiness.

Design and create notecards to send to local hospitals or senior centers. Send a piece of your artwork to an old friend or relative. Volunteer to help with art camps or after school programs in your community.

4. Learn a New Skill

Learning a new creative skill is another great way to practice self-care.

If you normally enjoy painting, consider taking a photography course. If you’re a copywriter, sign up for a course on writing creative fiction.

Learning a new skill is also a great way to look at art in a different way than you normally do. This will your work in awesome new ways.

5. Rearrange a Room

Looking for a fast, easy way to engage in some self-care? Start by rearranging a room in your home.

Moving furniture, cleaning up messes, or even simply organizing your bookshelf can not only help you relax but also give you a new outlook that will inspire other areas of your life too.

Putting These Self Care Ideas to Work

Any of the self care ideas on this list can be great quick-fix for creative types looking to relax or boost inspiration.

If you’re looking for a way to overhaul your self-care, you’ll need something more intensive. What better way to relax and focus on your mental and physical health than by taking a cruise?

Before you start shopping for tropical cruises though, check out these five American river cruises you need to take.
