Sometimes we do not always have the time or money to buy a brand new wardrobe. Here are 7 styling tips to make your old clothes look trendy.

You don’t need to update your wardrobe every season to stay on trend.

You can stay stylish with a few classic pieces you likely already have in your closet. And, you don’t even need to be a master seamster.

The trick to keeping your old clothes trendy is knowing how to wear them.

Need a few tips on how to transform your current drab selection into iconic statement pieces?

Look no further! We have all the tips you need on how to style the clothes you already have to fit current trends and keep you looking your best.

1. Roll Up Your Sleeves

In a perfect world, we would all be able to get our button-downs tailored to fit us all perfectly. Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world.

Fortunately, there is a quick an easy way to make any button down look like it’s been expertly tailored. While also giving you a fresh new summer look.

Rolling up long sleeves will make a shirt look like it fits you better — Period.

This tip can even work for your favorite t-shirts. Roll up your sleeves to achieve a more fitted, more trendy muscle shirt look.

2. Cuff Your Jeans

Jeans too long? Jeans too short? Cuff them!

Cuffed jeans can be a great addition to any look all year long. While you can buy jeans that have been pre-cuffed, you could also save yourself a lot of money and roll up the bottoms of your favorite pair.

It’s a versatile change that you can play around with as much as you like and is guaranteed to breath new life into any old pair.

3. Tuck Any Top

It doesn’t matter if you’re wearing a t-shirt, a tank, or a button down.

Tucking your top can completely change an outfit.

A simple tuck can make your shirt appear fitted and can even make a casual top look more formal.

For more laid-back looks, consider trying a partial tuck. This can still give an outfit that more fitted look while keeping the casual appearance.

4. Drape A Jacket

Just because a jacket has sleeves, that doesn’t mean you have to use them.

One definite way to take an outfit from supermarket ready to fashion week ready is by draping a jacket or blazer over your shoulders.

A draped blazer can transform a t-shirt, skinny jeans, and sneaker combo into a chic, fashion-forward ensemble.

Don’t have a blazer or jacket already in your wardrobe? Try Fairweather; they have all of the style staples you need to keep your wardrobe looking fresh for years to come.

5. Knot Your Shirts

Another great way to transform an old button-down into a trendy spring look.

Button the top few buttons of your favorite old shirt and tie up the bottom. Couple this with a high waisted pencil skirt or high waisted slacks and you’ve got yourself a brand new, ultra trendy fitted look.

6. Wear a Dress Like a Skirt

What is a dress but a skirt with a shirt attached to it?

Layers are a great way to add depth to any look — they’re also a great way to transform that reliable old dress of yours into a brand new look.

Throw a light sweater or button down over the top then tie your shirt at the waist to give it a more neat and fitted look.

7. Transform a Scarf Into a Wrap

Oversized scarves are great for keeping warm in the fall and winter. But, as the weather heats up, so too can your style by transforming these oversized beauties into stylish wraps.

While you can achieve this look by draping your scarf over your shoulders — there are better and more secure ways.

If you’re looking for a temporary fix, use small pins to create large armholes. Remember you’re going for a flowy look, so you’ll want to leave plenty of extra space.

If you’d like to permanently alter your old scarf, you can also use traditional needle and thread or sewing glue to achieve the same effect.

Make Your Old Clothes Cool Again

Creating new looks out of old clothes can be easy, it’s all a matter of knowing how to wear everything.
