Gym memberships aren’t for everyone, perhaps you simply cannot afford one, don’t like gyms, never have the time to go or maybe you are traveling and a gym just isn’t something that you can fit in. This does not however, mean that you shouldn’t try your best to keep in shape and there are actually many, many different types of exercises which you can do that will really help your body, without the use of gym machinery.

Let’s take a look then at some of the things which you could be doing when you don’t have gym equipment on hand.

Lifting

Lifting can be done pretty simply without the need for any high tech machinery as you can use anything of weight to complete your lifts. If you are in the house then you can use anything from an ornament to a bag of flour or sugar instead of a specially designed weight. If you plan on doing some bar-style lifting then ensure that whatever you are using is equally weighted. I have seen people on the road who have use tree branches for their lifting, anything of weight will help to bulk up.

Strengthening

The list is truly endless when it comes to body strengthening exercises and in fact not having a gym is really no burden at all for these workouts. The best way to approach this kind of work out is to focus on core strengthening exercises that will also be able to strengthen other muscles as you work out. Exercises like burpees, press-ups, sit-ups and variations of these exercises as well as squats will be sufficient to give you the full body work out which your body needs.

Cardio

Cardio most certainly does not require any machines at all in order for you to get a great cardio work out. Running is the key here, something which you can do anywhere in the World, whether on the spot, in a park or even along the streets. Running is without question the best cardio work out which you can do and it can be done anywhere, any time. If you are working out in a confined space then you can also do things like jumping jacks, butt kicks, shuttle runs and standing punches to give your body the cardio work out that it needs.

Methods

There are many different methods which you can use for your workout, one of the best methods when it comes to your workout is to do interval training. You can easily download applications on your phone which will help you with interval training and methods such as Tebata training are fantastic for burning calories and for strengthening your body. Take a look on the App store or Play store in order to find the best workout for you and don’t be afraid to try out different ways to get the one that best suits.

Don’t let the lack of machines be a reason for you not working out, they are not necessary and you can easily stay in shape without them.
