Moving always takes a lot longer than you think. If you know how to move efficiently, you can lessen the moving time as you transition to a new apartment.  Moving means upheaval and this can make a stressful and exhausting experience.   One of the most stressful aspects of relocation is packing. The only positive thing about packing is that it is a good opportunity to get rid of things that you no longer need.  By getting rid of clutter could help create space for new things and memories in your next home.  If you are planning to move your apartment, scroll down for some general tips on how to ensure a successful move.

Preparation

There is so much to do in preparation for your big move such as set up mail forwarding, change over your utilities, acquire packing supplies, and more. The move itself is really the easy part.  If you want everything else to go as smoothly as possible, you will need to prepare well. It is a time-consuming and detailed process, but it will make your move significantly more simple and less stressful.

Transferring Information

Be sure to inform all the utilities you are responsible for and make the transfers.

Buying Packing Supplies

There are many places to buy packing supplies, but boxes and tape can add up to quite a bit of money. You can reduce this additional cost by checking with a few places giving out free boxes. Most retailers such as furniture stores receive a lot of shipments.  You may also get used boxes from friends who moved before you or find boxes in the office you work in. Other packing supplies you need:-

Packing tape and dispenser

Plastic wrap

Bubble wrap to keeps your items protected during the move.

 Soft wrapping materials

Packing peanuts (loose-fill cushioning material to prevent damage of fragile items)

Newspaper (crushed into balls and put between breakable items in a box)

Cushioning materials, like moving blankets and towels

Markers

Labels for boxes with fragile items

Knives for opening the sealed cardboard boxes

Packing

Packing is one of the most crucial phases of moving. It makes it easier to keep track of your belongings during transport and unpack at your new place if items are organized based on common functions, room use, or other factors.  Start making an inventory of the items you plan to take and go room-by-room with a moving checklist. When you go to pack your items, try to combine them based on function — for example, pack kitchen supplies together.

Lastly, remember to label your moving boxes, so you know exactly where it goes in your new home. On the top and sides of your box, note the room name, the contents of the box, and whether or not items inside of the box are fragile. Number each box and keep a list of numbered boxes so that you can immediately establish if anything gets lost or stolen on the way.

Find movers

Moving is hard work and the risk of straining your back carrying heavy boxes. There are many affordable and reliable movers that will save your sanity and won’t break the bank.  Unfortunately, locating the right apartment movers for you can also be a hassle, and this is where Shiply can help.  At this online shipment platform,  you can receive quotes from its list of rated shipping companies which will be emailed to you.   Shiply aims to make moving as easy as possible by allowing consumers to compare quotes from different apartment moving companies in one place.  Their quotes are up to 75% cheaper than the normal rate because their drivers are making the same journey and are looking to fill up empty spaces in their vehicles. This also reduces the number of unnecessary vehicles on the roads.
