How to Pick an English Soccer Team For You

Despite loving in the United States for the large majority of my life, I spent the first 3 years in this world living in London and both of my parents are British by birth. It is chiefly for this reason that one of my favorite sports to follow is soccer, and in particular the English Premier League. Last week my buddy, the great doctor Wayne Imber, told me that he decided that it was time for him to pick a team that he could follow in the league and asked which I thought he should go for. With this in mind, I wanted to share with you the same info as I told him, so that you can pick your favorite Premier League as well. Here are the most supported clubs with a bit of info to help you decide.
Chelsea
Chelsea are the current champions of England and they have a great chance of winning it again this year. The London team does not have a glittering history of success but after the takeover by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich in 2001, the team have added Championships and European trophies to their cabinet. Big team that was bought with a lot of money.
Manchester United
Man U have been a force to be reckoned with for over a century and they are the most prolific team in the Premier League, and in the world. In the first 25 years of the Premier League, the Red Devils won the league 19 times under the tutelage of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. After Ferguson retired, the Manchester club struggled but look set to launch a challenge again under boss Jose Mourinho.
Tottenham Hotspur
My club have a decent history when talking about the 60s and the 70s but since then success has been hard to come by and they were known for a long time as nothing but a cup team. However, 4 years ago Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino took over and lead a team go young Englishman to 3rd and 2nd positions, something they will hope to build on this year.
Arsenal
Totenhams’ arch rivals and a massive club in their own right, Arsenal are the only team to have ever won the Premier League without losing a game. Their manager Arsene Wenger has been with the club for 22 years and they have qualified for the Champions League 21 out of the 22 years. Things are rocky right now at Arsenal but they still remain a huge club.
Manchester City
Own by a mega rich oil company director, Manchester City throw money around like it was from a monopoly set and as such they have attracted the brightest talent for many years. After years of being an average side, City were catapulted to league winners thanks to their investment, a feat they have achieved twice. Current boss Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in Europe right now and with the money that he has at his disposal, this is a team that is reaching for the stars.
