Spring Makeup Trends

Every fashion month presents an opportunity for the biggest names in the makeup industry to decide how they would like to shift the makeup world. For the spring 2019 makeup trends, their focus was on clean, ethereal beauty accentuated with just a single messy or unusual element. While the overall vibe was gentle and restrained, the exception was an artistic use of color, with little regard for clean lines and sophisticated beauty techniques. Here are the biggest makeup trends for spring 2019:
Nude all over
An extension of the no-makeup makeup look, nude makeup was one of the biggest trends on the spring runways. When it’s applied correctly, this look can make your eyes look bigger and your cheekbones look sharper. Although it is a subtle, monochromatic look, it doesn’t necessarily have to be boring. The trick is to vary the tone and the texture of your nudes on each feature. For example, opt for a matte blush and pair it with metallic eye shadow and glossy lips. You can even opt for a nude lipstick with a touch of shimmer, in order to add more texture and dimension to your look.
Glowing skin
Forget matte, the spring 2019 beauty trends are all about a healthy, natural gleam and making your skin look as if it glows from within. The best way to achieve this radiant look is to highlight both your cheekbones and your forehead very softly, but not with powder highlighters. Opt for a touch of liquid or cream luminizer to achieve a more natural sheen and healthy, dewy skin.
No mascara
When taken to the extreme, the no-makeup makeup trend also means no mascara, which makes for a very youthful and natural look, especially if you have a fair complexion and light hair and eyelashes. Whether you opt for a nude look, but add some lipstick for a touch of color, or you skip the mascara in order for light and pastel eye shadows to stand out, the no mascara look is perfect for the upcoming season. If your lashes are naturally sparse, think about including some lash boost products into your everyday beauty routine, in order to be able to pull off this trendy spring look.
Canary wings
As one of the most unusual color trends this spring, yellow eyeliner may seem strange and tricky to pull off, but you can rest assured it’s much easier than it sounds. The new pencil formulas make these eyeliners very easy to use, and when they are done in place of your usual liner, it’s a fun way to experiment with color and dimension. Just make sure to keep the yellow liner away from your bottom lashes, as it can make your eyes look puffy and dull.
Golden eyes
Add a touch of glamour into your makeup look with a hint of golden eye shadow. But instead of the metallics, the way to wear gold this spring is in the form of loose, chunky glitter. You may think that sophisticated glitter sounds like an oxymoron, but with careful and subtle application, it can truly look elegant and refined. Press a bit of gold glitter underneath the lower lash line and finish the look off with black mascara and a smudge of white liner along the inner rim, or opt for a bolder take with heavy glittery eye shadow paired with a classy sweep of winged brown eyeliner to achieve a more luxurious look.
Bitten lips
The trend that originated in South Korea has finally made its way into the spring 2019 makeup trends. The bitten lip refers to lips that have been stained with a natural dose of color which usually fades towards the edges, although it can also include more saturated lips that have been smudged along the edges as though they’ve been kissed amorously. Although tousled, it is a highly feminine way of wearing lipstick that is still unusual and extremely impactful.
Pink-red lipstick
Not quite pink and not quite red, this color of the moment combines the best of both shades – it’s classy, sexy and flirty, especially with a high-shine finish and voluptuous lashes. If you want to achieve a highly impactful look, pair this shade of lipstick with several coats of mascara to give the look a fun twist. If you like a more subtle approach, however, apply your lipstick and then blot it to create the perfect just-kissed stain.
Whether it’s two-toned lipstick, a healthy glow or bold eyeliner, these hottest makeup trends will have you looking like a model sashaying down the runway wherever you go this upcoming spring.
