What Can a Financial Advisor Do For You and Your Family

As a family man myself, I am more than aware that there are times when you need to tighten up the belts and calm down the spending. This can be for a wide variety of reasons but there is always that moment when one needs to address the family’s finances and put them in better order.

A few years ago I was in this position and a friend of mine recommended a guy called John Bradberry, a financial advisor, who would take a look over the family finances and help us to get back on track. Honestly speaking it wasn’t something that I thought would be a good idea, the last thing I need at this time was to be paying out for something else. How wrong I was, in no time at all our finances were in much better shape and I want to tell you exactly why you should get a financial advisor to help your family’s finances.

Budgeting

Financial advisors will not judge you for your spending, on the contrary, they will speak with you about your incomings and expenditure and try to find smarter ways to spend your money. The first thing that my financial advisor did for me was to set up a monthly budget, sticking to this budget really helped us turn the corner financially.

New Deals

The biggest difference that our financial advisor made for us was to renegotiate many of our monthly bills and bring them down in no time at all, I couldn’t believe it. The first thing that he did for us was to renegotiate our mortgage which saved us over $100 per month and meant that overall we would be paying less interest, then he changed our energy deals which saved us a further $50 per month. It is amazing how much we just accept as being ‘the way it is’ when it comes to our personal finances.

Planning

After a few consultations with the financial advisor I quickly realized just how little I was prepared for the future. I had no retirement fund in place, no money set aside for the kids to go to college and worse still, no plan for it. In all honesty I genuinely didn’t think that I had the money to get through each month let alone save for the future but with the savings that we made on our monthly bills plus our smarter budget I was able to set up some funds which would prepare us for the future.

Investment

A couple of years after I had began using the financial advisor, I was in a far better financial position and I wanted to start investing in some stocks. I was completely uneducated on the market and the financial advisor helped me to understand how the market worked and where I should be putting my money. I didn’t invest heavily but I have so far made some strong profits on my investments, all thanks to my financial advisor.
