  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Nutmeg a pinch (optional)

Instructions 

  1. Heat the milk in a saucepan until warm.
  2. In another saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the flour to the melted butter and stir constantly for about 2 minutes.
  4. Gradually add the warm milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
  5. Cook and stir until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and nutmeg if using.
