Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups chickpeas (cooked or canned)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 cup water
  • to taste salt
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions 

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add minced garlic and ginger. Cook for another minute.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  4. Stir in garam masala, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add cooked chickpeas and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Season with salt to taste. Stir in lemon juice and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
