Main Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and yeast.
2. Gradually add warm milk and water, whisking to form a smooth batter.
3. Cover the bowl and let the batter rest for about an hour until bubbly.
4. Stir in salt and baking soda.
5. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and grease crumpet rings.
6. Pour batter into the rings and cook until bubbles form and the top is set, about 5-7 minutes.
7. Remove the rings and flip the crumpets to cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes.
8. Serve warm with butter and jam.
