Instructions
1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
2. Pour in the milk and heavy cream, stirring occasionally until the mixture is hot but not boiling.
3. Add the oysters and their liquor to the pot. Cook until the edges of the oysters curl, about 3-5 minutes.
4. Season with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Stir well and serve hot.
